Happy Batman Day
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ateQQc-AgEM
Happy Batman Day, friends. Yes, it is indeed the greatest day of any made up holiday. But, to hell with that, this should be celebrated around the globe every year. Parades, parties, pin the tail on the Penguin… It will happen soon enough if I’m involved. I am obsessed with Batman, have been every since I saw the 1989 (the year that I was born, coincidence? I think not) film that featured Michael Keaton as Batman and Jack Nicholson as The Joker. Without Christopher Nolan (Thank you, Sir) then this would still be one of my favorite films of all time, well, I guess it still is, but as far as Batman goes, The Dark Knight series is the reason I live everyday. Although Seal’s song wasn’t featured in the 1989 film, it is by far the best Batman anthem there has been. When I was a kid, I wore a cape for years and imagined killing the bad guys whilst listening to “Kiss from a Rose”. There’s some imagery for your Wednesday…

Jamsday 7/21 “Day Glo” by Brazos
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hIOQJZmUNpg

Happy Jamsday, friends. I hope everyone had a great weekend, I sure did. I did exactly what I said I would do on Friday; good friends, cold beer and great music. Oh, and I also rocked some dope new boots and you can check them out on Matt Cade’s Facebook page… But, this post isn’t about me, this one is dedicated to a dear friend of mine, Brazos Barber. I had the pleasure of meeting Braz’s father, some years ago, and I immediately knew he was a special person. Not only was he good people, but the love and affection he had for his family and their friends is something I aspire to be able to reflect in my life. Gone too soon, but never forgotten. And, to all the loved ones that we have lost, I hope they’re looking down in some sort of aspect of this line… “and juggle wine, the kind of wine that you don’t mind spillin’…”
Cheers to you, Gary Barber.

Friday I’m In Love
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wa2nLEhUcZ0
Happy Friday, meekers. If you have any blues on this wonderful day, I’ve found your cure (see what I did there). Not sure why anyone would have any blues on a Friday… It’s the best day of the week for a reason. For me it means good friends, cold beer and great music. It doesn’t get much better than that, and I will be enjoying all three tonight. I love my friends, maybe just a little bit more than I do Fridays, so I will be enjoying the aforementioned with them… the Best Friends. Enjoy your Friday and weekend with “Friday I’m In Love” by The Cure.

Jamsday 7/14 “All The Young Girls” by Diane Coffee
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fwMTpUnxOV8
Happy Jamsday, friends. I hope everyone had a great weekend and enjoyed the soccer game yesterday, it was a doozy. Another mundane morning and can’t seem to shake, well, the shakes. This psychedelic little groove comes from a new obsession of mine, Diane Coffee. Diane Coffee, Shaun Fleming, is the drummer of the awesome California band, Foxygen, and works under this moniker for his solo side project. Reading his Wikipedia was quite amusing, as apparently Shaun is also a pretty incredible Didgeridoo player… But, the guy is obviously very talented, and has this old style about him, his songs flow very well. This song in particular, is very catchy, and how he portrays his lyrics are really cool. Foxygen has already showed some signs of weakness, hopefully not, but I think Shaun will be just fine if the band breaks up. Have a great rest of your Jamsday and enjoy “All The Young Girls” by Diane Coffee.

Jamsday 7/7 “Heavenly Father” by Bon Iver
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A2CbQpo-8CE
Happy Jamsday, friends. I hope everyone’s 4th was as awesome as mine. I almost lost Connect 4 to a 7 year old boy named, Saint (Erin Scott did lose), watched people chase each other from stray bullets during a Nicki Minaj performance and chased a Tequila shot with another Tequila shot. The city of brotherly love was good to me and Bob & Barbara’s might be my new favorite bar. As much as I love a good upbeat jam for my Jamsday morning, I am hurtin’. In every capacity of that word; My mind, my body, my soul and my fingers (You just pulled landscaping duty). So, I need something melancholy to woo me back to life, and who better to do that then the Melancholy God himself, Bon Iver. The work of Justin Vernon spans through many different bands and side projects, including collaborations with Kanye West and a great band that you need to check out, The Shouting Matches. We haven’t heard much from the group since their 2011 self titled album that won Justin and couple Grammys and we watched his subtle big league speech to people who listen to crappy music. Hopefully we’ll be seeing some more songs in the future as they released this new track specifically for Zach Braff’s movie, Wish I Was Here. Have a great Jamsday and enjoy “Heavenly Father” by Bon Iver.

Jamsday 6/30 “Paradise Waiting” by Vacationer
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rfQFc4A6LAY
Happy Jamsday, friends. I hope you all had a fantastic weekend, and just as my karaoke game was at the height of its career, I helped in performing a rendition of “Singles Ladies” that should never be heard or seen again (there’s a video) by any human being. But, it’s Jamsday, and I have a dope new track that screams summer/tank tops/cold beer/table tops/Matt Cade sunburns. From what started out as just a project by Kenny Vasoli, front man for The Starting Line, it has seem to surpass that side project phase, and are now a  formidable foe. Their first album was fantastic and has a remarkable catchy sound. Their new album, released last week, is in no way a change from that catchy pop sound, but does seem to have a little more polish to it. This song stuck out for me right away and I have not been able to not play it at least 7 times a day. Have a great rest of your Jamsday and enjoy “Paradise Waiting” by Vacationer.

Jamsday 6/23 “Parade” by The Antlers
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7IA1Qucq20Y
Happy Jamsday, friends. I hope everyone had a great weekend, outside of the gut wrenching finish to the soccer game. Whatever, Portugal can go kick rocks, and Germany has one coming for them. We’re taking it down a notch with this suave groovy tune from The Antlers. Their new album came out last week, and although I wasn’t the biggest fan of the album overall, this track really stood it, and I can’t stop listening to it. The guitar riff is sexy and smooth and with the opening line, “Right when the blizzard ends, they throw a fucking huge parade…”, I could tell I was going to dig it. I guess the rest of the album you kind of have to be in a chill, sipping a White Russian next to a fire, type of mood. But, this song opens up with some luscious vocals and some heavy layered arrangements with colored trumpet sounds. I hope those are Tequila shots in those cups, because I’ll be having a couple mid day on Thursday. Have a great Jamsday and enjoy “Parade” by The Antlers.

The Sunday Blues 6/22 “My Number” by Foals

http://youtu.be/bAsGFnLl2u0

As we watch the epic conclusion of the USA vs. Portugal match, I can’t help but dread the real world tomorrow. Another long week before one of my favorite holidays, July 4th. Hopefully all of this American spirit will help boost the boys on the field. I almost didn’t post this band today, because they’re from England, but the song is too damn good. I think It’s pretty obvious by how catchy this jam is that they have become a huge band in the Indie world. Music cures all, so root for the States and enjoy the rest of your Sunday with “My Number” by Foals.

Jamsday 6/16 “Young Boys” by Sin Fang
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vaMTYssJnqU
Happy Jamsday, friends. Wow, what a Game of Thrones ending. Don’t worry, no spoilers here. But, if you haven’t watched yet, I suggest you do that immediately. The name of this artist sounds like he could be a character on the show, but he just rocks out instead. Hailing from the Icelandic band, Seabear, Sin Fang is the side project of Sindri Már Sigfússon. I’ve been listening to this song for a while and feel the need to share it with all of you. Again, you will have trouble getting this one not stuck in your head all day. It has that ‘Anthem’ quality sound to it and a chorus that’s easy like Sunday morning. This will hopefully get your morning going and it’s cool to keep it on repeat. Have a great Jamsday and enjoy “Young Boys” by Sin Fang.

The Sunday Blues 6/15 “Put a Light On” by Generationals

http://youtu.be/H2GMQShkJYM

These blues aren’t so cold today. You can pick your poison between the World Cup and the U.S. Open, as we await the possible demise of the Miami Heat and what could be the best finale in Game of Thrones history. In honor of my father, I’m enjoying the rad performance of Martin Kaymer at Pinehurst, it’s a Sunday tradition. But, watching golf and drinking cold ones wouldn’t be complete without some mighty jams. This jam has been one of my all time favorite songs of the past couple years. Catchy as a net and it’s not one you can just listen to once. If you’re having a shitty, hopefully this will help ease those blues. Have a great rest of your Sunday and enjoy “Put a Light On” by Generationals.
