Jamsday 8/18 “Surprise” by Royal Headache
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=44Pf2WpELgY
Happy Jamsday, friends. I hope everyone had a great weekend. The irony in this post is uncanny. Surprise! I have a royal headache this morning. Another day where I hate myself, hate my actions, but still love my best friends. I’m almost kind of glad this song is only a minute and half long, because my face might fall off my face. But, the song is super catchy and jams, so I take it back. The feeling of summer nostalgia kind of hit listening to this song as I watched the sun rise, chilling on a roof with 30 Bushwick hipsters, Sunday morning. It was actually quite mesmerizing, with plenty of cigarettes, flannel and “No, that song sucks, let’s play this one” to go around. So, however bad the headache, I don’t regret it, and will keep the youth alive for as long as I can go. Have a great rest of your Jamsday and enjoy “Surprise” by Royal Headache.
Cheers,

Jamsday 8/11 “Making Breakfast” by Twin Peaks

Happy Jamsday, friends. I hope everyone had a great weekend. 19 days till the presumptuous return of Florida State football. Presumptuous may not be the most politically correct term, but I’m going to leave it, because the dismantling of our opponents will be far from what is appropriate. Today’s tune comes from a great new band out of Chicago, Twin Peaks. A foursome of teenagers who seem to have classic rock & roll in their DNA. This album fucking rocks and has been playing non-stop at my abode. They are also good friends with the Orwells, who are also a teenage band from Chicago. Not sure what’s in the water their recently, but let it flow, these are some dope new jams and the garage influenced punk attitude creates crunchy vibes. With catchy lyrics layered with a catchy riff, this song is bound to be played a couple times over. Have a great rest of your Jamsday and enjoy “Making Breakfast” by Twin Peaks.

Happy Friday, friends, and it’s a glorious one indeed. It’s time for good friends, cold beer and great music once again. So, what’s different with this Friday, you ask? I get to enjoy cold beer, with great music, that was recorded, written and produced by a best friend. That’s right, we got another yam yammich, from my main man, T Brandes (that was my attempt at a rhyme). Right out of the gate you get this soulful, California, beachy vibe that immediately made me want to walk out of the office, flip the bird, crack a cold one and sit my ass on a beach somewhere. There was a saying once I arrived in New York that went something like, “You never know who might be sitting next to.” Well, if you’re out on the left coast, be weary, you might just be sitting next to this guy, and you might want to hop on the train now. Hats off, dood, this one is one of my favorites. Have a great weekend and enjoy “That’s Me” by Thompson Brandes.

Happy Jamsday, friends. I hope everyone had a great weekend, it was not as good as mine. There’s not a whole lot that hasn’t already been said, so I’ll skip my spiel on all of my injuries and how it might take me 30 days/nights to feel normal again, and just say that I have the best friends in the world. If there was a World Series of “How Cool Are Your Best Friends?”, no doubt in my mind we would take home that Guggenheim Goblet. I wouldn’t be who I am without them and I love them like Michael Burnett likes sucking down farts. Okay, now that that’s out of the way, I apologize for the tardiness of the jammage, but I needed to make sure I didn’t puke all day. You probably don’t know this guy, but you know his music. A very dope dude indeed. A well known producer in the biz, and he’s also in two bands, you may have heard of them, The Shins and The Black Keys. Yeah, this guy knows how to party. He also can surely jam out on his own accord as well. I put the live version in here, just so you can see how talented this man is. Have a great rest of your Jamsday and enjoy “Lady Luck” by Richard Swift.

Happy Jamsday, friends. I hope everyone had a great weekend, and if you’re not excited this morning, then you must not be going to the greatest weekend known to man. That’s right, it’s Schoolboi week and the anticipation for my flight on Thursday is at an extreme high. But, since most of you aren’t eligible/invited to join in on our Brohemian Rhapsody of a trip, let this little diddy of jam help ease the pain. This song blends elements of electronica, pop and cool jazz. The bass line is really dope and I get a “I feel like dancin’” vibe. You can definitely hear his influences of working with various bands such as: Toro y Moi, Yeasayer and of Montreal. This kid has some serious talent and his new album drops September 2nd, hop on the train now. Have a great rest of your Jamsday and enjoy “How We Be” by Sinkane.

Happy Batman Day
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ateQQc-AgEM
Happy Batman Day, friends. Yes, it is indeed the greatest day of any made up holiday. But, to hell with that, this should be celebrated around the globe every year. Parades, parties, pin the tail on the Penguin… It will happen soon enough if I’m involved. I am obsessed with Batman, have been every since I saw the 1989 (the year that I was born, coincidence? I think not) film that featured Michael Keaton as Batman and Jack Nicholson as The Joker. Without Christopher Nolan (Thank you, Sir) then this would still be one of my favorite films of all time, well, I guess it still is, but as far as Batman goes, The Dark Knight series is the reason I live everyday. Although Seal’s song wasn’t featured in the 1989 film, it is by far the best Batman anthem there has been. When I was a kid, I wore a cape for years and imagined killing the bad guys whilst listening to “Kiss from a Rose”. There’s some imagery for your Wednesday…

Jamsday 7/21 “Day Glo” by Brazos
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hIOQJZmUNpg

Happy Jamsday, friends. I hope everyone had a great weekend, I sure did. I did exactly what I said I would do on Friday; good friends, cold beer and great music. Oh, and I also rocked some dope new boots and you can check them out on Matt Cade’s Facebook page… But, this post isn’t about me, this one is dedicated to a dear friend of mine, Brazos Barber. I had the pleasure of meeting Braz’s father, some years ago, and I immediately knew he was a special person. Not only was he good people, but the love and affection he had for his family and their friends is something I aspire to be able to reflect in my life. Gone too soon, but never forgotten. And, to all the loved ones that we have lost, I hope they’re looking down in some sort of aspect of this line… “and juggle wine, the kind of wine that you don’t mind spillin’…”
Cheers to you, Gary Barber.

Friday I’m In Love
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wa2nLEhUcZ0
Happy Friday, meekers. If you have any blues on this wonderful day, I’ve found your cure (see what I did there). Not sure why anyone would have any blues on a Friday… It’s the best day of the week for a reason. For me it means good friends, cold beer and great music. It doesn’t get much better than that, and I will be enjoying all three tonight. I love my friends, maybe just a little bit more than I do Fridays, so I will be enjoying the aforementioned with them… the Best Friends. Enjoy your Friday and weekend with “Friday I’m In Love” by The Cure.

Jamsday 7/14 “All The Young Girls” by Diane Coffee
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fwMTpUnxOV8
Happy Jamsday, friends. I hope everyone had a great weekend and enjoyed the soccer game yesterday, it was a doozy. Another mundane morning and can’t seem to shake, well, the shakes. This psychedelic little groove comes from a new obsession of mine, Diane Coffee. Diane Coffee, Shaun Fleming, is the drummer of the awesome California band, Foxygen, and works under this moniker for his solo side project. Reading his Wikipedia was quite amusing, as apparently Shaun is also a pretty incredible Didgeridoo player… But, the guy is obviously very talented, and has this old style about him, his songs flow very well. This song in particular, is very catchy, and how he portrays his lyrics are really cool. Foxygen has already showed some signs of weakness, hopefully not, but I think Shaun will be just fine if the band breaks up. Have a great rest of your Jamsday and enjoy “All The Young Girls” by Diane Coffee.

Jamsday 7/7 “Heavenly Father” by Bon Iver
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A2CbQpo-8CE
Happy Jamsday, friends. I hope everyone’s 4th was as awesome as mine. I almost lost Connect 4 to a 7 year old boy named, Saint (Erin Scott did lose), watched people chase each other from stray bullets during a Nicki Minaj performance and chased a Tequila shot with another Tequila shot. The city of brotherly love was good to me and Bob & Barbara’s might be my new favorite bar. As much as I love a good upbeat jam for my Jamsday morning, I am hurtin’. In every capacity of that word; My mind, my body, my soul and my fingers (You just pulled landscaping duty). So, I need something melancholy to woo me back to life, and who better to do that then the Melancholy God himself, Bon Iver. The work of Justin Vernon spans through many different bands and side projects, including collaborations with Kanye West and a great band that you need to check out, The Shouting Matches. We haven’t heard much from the group since their 2011 self titled album that won Justin and couple Grammys and we watched his subtle big league speech to people who listen to crappy music. Hopefully we’ll be seeing some more songs in the future as they released this new track specifically for Zach Braff’s movie, Wish I Was Here. Have a great Jamsday and enjoy “Heavenly Father” by Bon Iver.
